The pictures was actually taken last 30th Nov, on our first day of babywearing consultancy course.

All the course's participants (along with Victoria) were also there in Midvalley last Saturday (our 2nd day attending the course) during baby expo.

There were a bit of demonstration and talks on babywearing.

Away from the internet for 3 days

I'm going to be away from the lappy starting from today (in a few hours after this entry is posted!) cos I'll be attending a babywearing consultancy course in Mutiara Damansara.

The course will be handled by School of Babywearing!

Another step ahead to be a certified babywearing educator, insya Allah. So that I'll have more experience and knowledge on how to help those who asked for my help with trouble shooting their babywearing techniques.

I'm psyched as well as nervous. I'm okay with SSCs (well, they're easy enough), but I'm a virgin with wrapping. haha...

I even purchased a preloved Didymos woven wrap to have a few tries before attending the course (so hopefully takde la blur ayam).

It was a sloppy job, but heck, I've tried.

Only managed to do FWCC by the way... 

I don't remember any other techniques to do a back carry (plus, not confident too that my wiggly toddler would be patient enough to wait for his mother to wrap him up... almaklum, 1st time... mesti terhegeh-hegeh nak wrap =P )

Ergobaby carrier for toddler

Sorry for the late update... I noticed I have frequent visitors here. Thanks again for reading this blog. ^_^

Well, the previous blog entry was about Ergo Original and Organic.

Today I'm going to write on Ergobaby carrier that I recommend for toddler.

Ergo Performance and Ergo Petunia Pickle Bottom (PPB) are great for toddlers since their body panels are longer than the standard Ergo.

Many people who used Ergo before claimed Ergo has short body panels and are not suitable for long term use (until baby is taller/bigger i.e 2 years above). Well, they were right. But only the standard designs has the short body panels. The Performance and PPB DO NOT have short body panels.

Found a picture of my old Ergo in Purple Mystic.

This one is the Ergo Original series.

My son was 1 year at this time. The fit was ok.

I can still use this... but I was interested in Ergo PPB's new design (Frolicking in Fez) and that was why I let this go few weeks after this pic was taken.

Ergo is definitely a very comfortable carrier. Just be careful not to buy fake Ergo!

This picture was taken when my son was 10 months old in Langkawi (baby carrier is great for traveling!)

As you can see, the body panel is high enough to cover all of his back.

And he was forced to have his hands inside the carrier (he didn't like that).

Also at 10 months old.

He got his hands out the way he loved it.

The great thing about Performance is the top section of body panel is quite cushy and soft.

My son can easily got his hands out without crushing the carrier badly. The Ergo Performance was very flexible. Boleh terlipat, tak keras or fixated. Love it!

But Performance itself has differences in material.

The Spring Green (like above pic) is of different outer material than Black Charcoal, True Blue or Grey!

Sp, setiap Performance tu tak sama material dia...

Black Charcoal for once, kain luar dia lembut and shiny berbanding Spring Green yang macam kain cotton biase. (Please refer Ergo's website for details =D)

But all Ergo Performance has mesh inner lining to have cooling effect.

But in my honest opinion, sama je... cam takde beza pun dengan 'kepanasan' carrier lain. HAHA.

It's VERY NORMAL to feel a bit warm when babywearing since our skin contacts with our baby's.

Sold my Performance for Ergo Original (Purple Mystic). yeah, that's how much I love the standard design. The original design :)

Then I sold my Ergo Original Purple Mystic for Ergo Petunia Pickle Bottom!

Fell in love at first sight with the prints.

The Ergo PPB is wider, longer and great for toddler.

The material is of organic cotton and very soft.

The only downside is... it has not pocket at the body panel.

Only 1 pocket to stuff the sleeping hood.

And the beautiful print attracted curious stares.

Difference of Ergobaby carriers: Original and Organic

I received numerous questions on the difference of many types of Ergobaby carriers.

Well, as we all know... Ergobaby has the following types of carriers to choose from:

a) Ergobaby Original (Retail price RM464/499)

b) Ergobaby Sport (Retail price RM464)

c) Ergobaby Organic (Retail price RM599)

d) Ergobaby Performance (Retail price RM599)

e) Ergobaby Organic Petunia Pickle Bottom (Retail price RM689)

5 types of them!

This is why I don't have Ergo ready stock (unlike Boba 3G). Too many types, too many colors, prints and choices. For a small bizz wahm with limited source like me, I only take pre-orders for Ergo. ^___^

Ok. Let me summ them up.

1st, the Original series. This is the standard Ergo design. The material is 100% cotton. This design is the same like the Organic series (plain color, not the Petunia Pickle Bottom's). 

They have quite a short body panel which is not suitable for taller babies. However, they are a great ssc for 4 months and above. Since the body panel is quite short (shorter than Boba 3G's), the baby worn wouldn't be so drowned inside it. Your child can look around cos... usually the Ergo's body panel will not even cover up to the child's neck! So tak tenggelam la... great for petite baby, small babies.

Difference between Original and Organic? 

The material, where they are made from and the price.

Organic series is made from 100% organic cotton. It's softer and cooler to the touch (well, at least most of my customers and I think so).

Organic is pricier than Originals. 

Organic is made in India whereas the Original is made in China.

So, if your baby is still small or you would like to wear your baby when he/she is 4 months old (3 months plus also can... depends on your baby), you can buy the Ergo Original/Organic. Please be informed that since it has short body panel, it may not be suitable for larger/taller babies... by then, you have to upgrade your carrier. But Ergo Original/Organics can fit petite 1 year old toddler perfectly... So really, it depends on your baby's size. :)

Lots of people love the standard Ergo design. It's comfortable and easy to use.

Even if it cannot last to 2,3 years, some people does not really mind cos baby usually will start walking by 1 year plus, right? Some toddlers refused to be carried by that time... So yeah, tak rugi pun beli. Boleh jual balik! haha... (Authentic items sentiasa ada je orang berminat nak beli eventho preloved... as long as good condition ^_^)

So kesimpulannya:

Ape beza Ergo Original and Ergo Organic (plain)??

Beza dari segi material SAHAJA. Original dari cotton biase, Organic dari Organic cotton.

Yang organic cotton is made in India while the Original made from China. That's all.

Hip-healthy position

I was looking for more info on Hip Dysplasia and came across 'correct swaddling' article. I have visited that site before when people on my Facebook network shared a photo of baby's position in certain baby carriers (which one was good and which one was bad position)

I was thinking more on the comfort rather than the hip-healthy position when I first saw this pic.

Now I focus more on what it said below the pic =D

Ok, let me share another picture.

Oh before I go any further, what is hip dysplasia?

Well... basically, hip dysplasia means that the bones of the hip joint are not aligned correctly.

What does it do?

Hip dysplasia prevents the hip joint from functioning properly. Of course, if it's not aligned correctly, how can the joint function properly, right? The unaligned position would also made the hip joint wears out faster than normal. It is also a “silent” condition that means pain is not normally felt until much later stages, making it harder to detect.

Then I hopped into swaddling section.

However, on the swaddling thing... I was wrong!

Apparently I had swaddled my son wrongly before.

Tsk tsk. 

Do pray that I have another baby so I can do the right thing this time.

As we can see from the pics above, eventhough Boba 3G can be worn until maximum weight of 20kg, it will not be very comfortable to carry preschooler in this SSC.

Yes, you can still carry your child in it, but maybe not for a long time. The base is not wide enough to cover your child's bum, so the weight is not distributed evenly. For emergency use, still can la... pakai kejap-kejap. hehe...
